The Magnaflux Zyglo® ZL-56 Water Washable Fluorescent Penetrant is safe for use on aluminum, steel, nickel, titanium and other alloys. The ZL-56 classifies as a Type 1, Method A, water washable, non water based, Level 4 ultra sensitive penetrant.
Recommended viewing is under an ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 365 nanometers. An example of this would be the Magnaflux® ZB-100F fan-cooled black light. Under UV light, the ZL-2C glows a bright greenish-yellow.
Applications for the ZL-56 include inspections on smooth, highly machined surfaces to find cracks, seams and other defects on parts.
The ZL-56 complies with AMS 2644, ASME B & PV Code, Sec. V, MIL-STD-271, MIL-STD-2132, Boeing BAC 5423 PSD 6-46 or 8-4, General Electric P50YP107, Boeing PS-21202, ASTM E 165, AECL and ASTM E 1417.
Zyglo® ZL-56 fluoresces a bright greenish-yellow under ultraviolet radiation and is safe for use on most engineering and aerospace alloys including aluminum, steel, nickel and titanium. Use of an ultraviolet light source with a peak wavelength of 365 nanometers, such as the Magnaflux ZB-100F fan-cooled black light, is recommended.
Zyglo® ZL-56 penetrant meets OSHA requirements for Class III B liquids due to its high flash point and can be used in open dip tanks.
