Hall Effect thickness gages can measure any non-magnetic material by placing a probe on one side of the material wall and a small target on the other for small, precise measurements up to 10 mm thick. The probe creates a magnetic field around the sensor and then the small target on the other end bends the magnetic field. The amount of bend experienced in the magnetic field can then be used to determine the thickness of the material using a software algorithm.
